Sift Edge Agent, developed by CleverData, is a lightweight Windows application designed to run on local workstations and act as an on-premise bridge between an organization’s file system and CleverData’s cloud-based Sift Intelligent Document Processing platform. Released in its inaugural build 0.1.1, the agent belongs to the Business & Productivity / Document Management category and is aimed at companies that must keep sensitive files within their own network perimeter while still benefiting from advanced machine-learning extraction, classification and routing capabilities. Once installed, the service continuously monitors designated hot-folders, encrypts outgoing traffic and transmits document images or PDFs to the Sift cloud for OCR, data capture and business-rules validation; processed metadata and XML/CSV outputs are then pushed back to the same machine or forwarded to downstream ERP, RPA or ECM systems without human intervention. Typical use cases include unattended invoice ingestion in accounting departments, automated onboarding packet handling in financial-services back offices, and real-time extraction of shipping documents from manufacturing plants that lack reliable wide-area connectivity.
