Teleport 18.7.3, published by Gravitational, Inc., is an infrastructure-security platform that consolidates connectivity, authentication, fine-grained access controls, and comprehensive audit trails into one self-contained Go binary. Designed for cloud-native and hybrid environments, it functions as an identity-aware access proxy, a short-lived certificate authority, a unified authorization layer, and a firewall-aware tunneling system, eliminating the need for static SSH keys, Kubernetes service tokens, or shared secrets. Administrators deploy Teleport either as a lightweight Linux daemon or as a Kubernetes service, after which it immediately mediates access to SSH nodes, entire Kubernetes clusters, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, CockroachDB and MySQL databases, internal web applications, Windows hosts, and generic networked servers. All interactions are secured with automatically expiring x.509 and SSH certificates, mandatory two-factor authentication, and optional single sign-on through GitHub, OpenID Connect, or SAML providers such as Okta and Microsoft Entra ID. Continuous audit logs and recorded sessions support compliance requirements and collaborative troubleshooting via shared terminals. Operators can inspect the live state of every enrolled resource through both a command-line client and an integrated Web UI, while developers continue to use standard tools—OpenSSH clients, kubectl, psql, mongosh, and native database drivers—without workflow changes. The current stable release, v18.7.3, is one of forty-three documented versions that have progressively added protocol support, cloud integrations, and performance refinements since the project’s inception.
