HashiCorp Boundary 0.21.1 is an identity-aware proxy engineered to give teams a single, secure gateway to hosts and critical systems regardless of where those resources reside. Operating in the Network Security category, the application authenticates users through any OpenID Connect-compliant identity provider, then enforces least-privilege, just-in-time access policies that can span on-prem data centers, private clouds, managed Kubernetes clusters, or public-cloud VPCs. Once authenticated, each session is brokered through Boundary’s control plane, eliminating the need to distribute static credentials or install agents on every target host; instead, the proxy can dynamically mint unique, per-session credentials by drawing on an integrated HashiCorp Vault deployment, or retrieve existing secrets from its own native credential store. Administrators automate discovery of new endpoints through built-in catalogs, apply fine-grained role assignments, and monitor live sessions with the ability to cancel or pause them in real time, thereby centralizing audit trails and reducing the attack surface of privileged access. The architecture is deliberately split into lightweight controllers and workers, allowing the same binaries to scale from a laptop demo to a multi-region deployment while maintaining resilience through automatic failover. Since its first open-source release, the project has evolved through eleven numbered versions, adding features such as credential brokering for dynamic hosts, session recording, and improved Terraform provider coverage, all of which standardize the access workflow for infrastructure teams managing traditional VMs, serverless functions, or containerized workloads. HashiCorp Boundary is available for free on get.nero.com, where downloads are delivered through trusted Windows package sources like winget, always serving the latest version and supporting batch installation alongside other applications.
