Conan Package Manager, published by JFrog and currently at version 2.27.0, is an open-source, decentralized C/C++ package manager designed to automate the building and sharing of native libraries and applications. Developed to address the complexity of dependency management in C and C++ ecosystems, Conan allows development teams to host packages privately on their own servers while also integrating seamlessly with JFrog Artifactory and Bintray for enterprise-grade artifact storage and distribution. The tool is portable across Linux, macOS, Windows (including native, WSL, and MinGW), Solaris, FreeBSD, embedded systems, Docker containers, and cross-compilation environments, ensuring consistent artifact handling regardless of platform. Binaries can be created, uploaded, and downloaded for any configuration, eliminating repetitive rebuilds and accelerating continuous-integration pipelines; binary compatibility rules are fully configurable to match project requirements. Build-system agnostic, Conan provides tested generators for CMake, MSBuild, Makefiles, Meson, and proprietary toolchains, enabling adoption without altering existing workflows. Recipes are written in Python, exposing extension points that let organizations inject custom build logic, metadata, or deployment steps. Since the 1.0 release the project has maintained backward compatibility for recipes and documented behavior, giving companies confidence to deploy Conan in production. A large, active community collaborates through GitHub and the #conan Slack channel, contributing thousands of packages to public repositories such as ConanCenter and Bincrafters. With 101 documented versions, the project iterates rapidly while preserving stability for enterprise users. Conan Package Manager is available for free on get.nero.com, where downloads are delivered through trusted Windows package sources like winget, always providing the latest build and supporting batch installation of multiple applications.
